what is the best flea med?

I know people say the ones that walmart sells are not good at all, and can actualyl cause them to get sick.  So which brands work?

I found on Pinterest to use blue dawn dish soap to bathe your animals. It is suppose to get rid of fleas and it is cheap.

Depending on your climate Dawn dish soap can work if used regularly.  If you live in a climate that is warmer year round you will need a regular monthly preventative.  I use Comfortis, but really anything from your vet will work.  The OTC stuff is not very effective and can be dangerous.  I like Comfortis because it is a pill instead of a spot treatment on the back of the neck.  There is no residue to get on my son's hands or the furniture or carpet.

BTW, using Dawn, you want to leave it on the dog or cat for 5 minutes to kill the fleas.

I can't remember what mine takes but its a pill once a month... Got from the vet!

Comfortis. Its a pill (chewable) you can get from the vet. Starts working in 30 mins and kills fleas and eggs for a month

We are using Comfortis. We tried both Frontline and K9 Advantix II (Advantage II for the cat) and couldn't figure out why they weren't working. After discussing the issue with the vet, I was told that fleas have basically built up a tolerance to those medications. We planned on trying Comfortis first, then Trifexus (I think I misspelled that). thankfully, the Comfortis did the trick.
