Do I have to have tubes in my arms?

If I give birth wih a midwife in a warm tub do I need tubes in my arms? Just saw a pic of pregnant ladies with tubes in the arms...please no

 ? what tubes?  Iv?  they are often prefered by nany health care providers, though only required in a few sitiuations...many give birth with out ivs

I don't know specifically how it is with a midwife or water birth, but I DO know that barring complications (at least in a hospital) you can usually decline being hooked up, or if necessary, can compromise by asking for a heparin/saline lock instead, where they just put the port in your arm but it isn't connected to anything... that way if they DO need to start an IV for any reason they already have access.

The IV is to help keep you hydrated during labor and delivery. Since they don't like you to actually drink anything after a certain point.
