Never been so glad to be sick since if i wasnt, we would have not been home when dd got out of school today.  We didnt realize today was Early release day and she would have come home to an empty place w/ doors locked.  She is 6  so she does not have her own key and it is illegal here to stay by herself.  We usually run errands on pay day.

Does your district not give out calenders or let you know? Or was it sicky fog?

That could have been scary.

That's why we have a plan that our kids know. If they were to ever come home to an empty house, they are to go across the street to my neighbor/friend and stay there til one of us gets home. Neighbor does know about this arrangement, of course, and is ok with it.
But you should probably put something like that in place...because things do tend to just happen...

This is why our school doesn't believe in early release. We have 1 a year and it is ONLY the last day of school.

My son's school calls the day before an early release day to remind parents.

My daughter's school always calls to let us know about early days or off days. They also give out weekly newsletters with that info. Does she take the school bus? Because I'm sure the driver would have turned around to the school.

Sicky fog since i wrote it on our calendars in big letters.   We have the district calendar taped to book case.
