my sister "R" is my only option for childcare right now. *freaking out a bit right now*

Posted by   + Show Post

i only need to work a few more weeks until i can go on sick leave and then mat leave. a few more weeks. and both of the only babysitters i had have moved out of town in the last few weeks.

well, my 21yr old sitter went to Vancouver for a theatrical thing which she isn't sure how long it will last, and the other was like a cool british 50something gramma. and they went to alberta for the remainder of the winter.

i had a weeks notice about them leaving, and have been trying like mad to find a new sitter before i work on tues, but have had no luck.

and dh is gone to stoon again, for another week of school, so it will be just me, her and the kids. i have no one else who can come at the drop of a hat.

fml.

i am so scared. i am freaking out. she babysat my sister "J"'s kids, but not everyday for what could turn into a few weeks.

having severe anxiety/panic attacks. he's just little. what if she doesn't take care of him? or loses her temper? or falls asleep? or forgets about him? or burns the house down.

i need a paper bag. **hyperventilating**

i can't. i just....i am his only employee, there is no one to cover, i am not there, he either has to be there himself or shut down. and i can't risk pissing him off because i havent been there more than 3 mo yet, and i can still be dismissed without cause. so i just can't. i need  to be eligable for sick leave and mat leave. i have paid into EI for YEARS many years, and this is the first time i have ever NEEDED it. i just need a few more weeks, unless the doc puts me on sick leave when i go in tomorrow, but even then i cant afford to be on sick leave yet. ugh.

No I don't:(
I would tell you everything will be okay but I think if you are this worried maybe you should call in a couple days until you can find someone else.

Quoting D.O.E.:

he's just little he is 2. really smart little guy, tries to be bossy. gets into stuff, like the fridge. sometimes he yells at you. you have to be able to understand him and know what he is talking about.  he is just little though. pretty resiliant but little. and mom says she falls asleep in the afternoon sometimes....well he doesn't nap anymore...do you even know who "R" is and her whole deal? *freaking out*

no it isn't. financially, it totally isn't. my sister J said that R did ok, but her kids are also older than my ds.....it just...i dont know what to expect from her. i haven't fully dealt with my feelings regarding what happened with her, and ...she kind of scares me, which is probably ridiculous, but i am supersticious, and she just makes me uneasy.

Is staying home just absolutely not an option? I wouldn't leave my child with anyone that I wasn't comfortable with.

Ok, if Angieslist is avaible in canada, check them for babysitter reviews. also there are babtsitter and nanny sites you can use. Good luck.

on the days where there are no confrences i might be able to. but it is really cold in there, like 16 degress, and i rarely have wood chopped to burn, i can't split the logs, no matter how hard i try, so i am usually sitting in the cold. and he is already not feeling well....on confrence days it wouldnt be a good idea at all. maybe i can have her here and just see how she does on the busy wrk days and take ds with me on the slow ones....i dunno if boss will allow it though

 slap<----sense...

I understand why you are concerned and I would be too. How far away is your mom? I'm sorry I don't remember but,I think it's too far to help...correct? Is there a way to find a high school or college age girl nearby that could use a bit of extra money? I'm sorry I'm not much help....huggingI can however send cyber Hugs!

So your grandmotherly type went for the winter. By the time you have the baby and get off maternity leave, winter will probably be over or close to it. You still have plenty of time for her to come back or to find an alternative.

1 mom liked this
she would not be an option if it were me.
I don't leave my child with unbalanced dangerous people.
