My dd gets out of school today at 4:40  she has after-school dance class on thursdays.  I pick her up and she reminds me that i have a meeting at her school tonight to pick up her middle school applications and they are going to give instructions on how the application process works.  Even tho I'm totally familiar with the process i still have to go.  I just wish i didnt forget about it all day.  at least she reminded me at 4:40 and not 6:40

Quoting frndlyfn:

why does she have to apply?

We have a program that allows our middle schoolers to apply for schools outside their zone.  They have to take a test and fill out the application.  Gives kids a chance at a better school/program then the zoned school may offer.  Its not mandatory tho  I could just send her to the zoned school.

At the high school level Every kid has to apply to the schools they want.  They are guaranteed a spot somewhere but they have to the go thru the process.
