Do you like what you see in the mirror? [POLL]
Do we put too much emphasis on personal appearance? How do you approach this issue with your children?
A lot of times, I do not. But I'm learning that although I may not like what I see now, I usually go back through pictures and go "OMG I was so pretty, what happened?" and then realize "Wait...I didn't think I was pretty then either" so I've learned to just look in the mirror and like it because I know eventually I'll probably look at pictures and think it anyways lol.
As for my dd, she has some body issues cos she is not stick thin, shes curvy, but feels good about herself now that boys keep askin her out( no dating till 16). She complains about her nose being too big. But loves her eyes and hair.
I'm fine with who I am. Doesn't mean I don't try to improve myself where possible....but I am who I am and that is fine.
i teach my kids that looks have NOTHING to do with who you are.
