For about 20 years now, one of the local attorneys in town, pays for cab rides to people who've had too much to drink.

They do it from Dec 1 through till about 1am on new years day.

now there are 3 attorneys in town that offer the service

You said you live in MN right? What prt? I live in Austin ,MN.

Quoting NDADanceMom:

I live in a dry town.  There is no public sales of alcohol.  There is no house in town that cant be walked to.  There are only about 70 houses and the town is less than a square mile.

Not sure, there was a bus that offered free rides, but they quit cuz no one was using it. There is a cab, but not sure if they're doing it, they're pretty cheap asses.

We don't have cabs here but you can call the police and they will get you a ride home somehow to keep you from driving they do it all year round.
Some of the larger cities around here have programs where volunteers and/or officers will pick you up and take you home NYE.
