For about 20 years now, one of the local attorneys in town, pays for cab rides to people who've had too much to drink.
They do it from Dec 1 through till about 1am on new years day.
now there are 3 attorneys in town that offer the service
Yes I live in a college town. The police will take you home for free. We don't have taxis so all the cops work. Not the best idea but keeps people safe.
Our town does not offer free rides but our cab service normally closed by 7pm stays open all night on New Year's. There are a few bars that pay for cab fair for their patrons though.
Not that I know of...
Well, yes, but no. It's called the police.
I'm not sure.
I don't think so.
Texas (D/FW) is really terrible on public transportation.
Everything is so spread out that cab rides cost a lot.
And they wonder why there are so many DWIs. -_-
Major metropolis. FREE AAA rides from 6pm to 6am tonight.
They will tow your car AND your drunk butt home for nothing.
Pretty awesome.

We have the $2 cab ride for college students but not anyone else and our bus shuts down before 10pm. Unfortunatly this is a college town ( 6 colleges total) it can get nuts.
