My dd was an iugr baby and besides always being tiny we havent had any issues since birth
Well now at 2 1/2 she only has a handful of words. Is speech delay common in iugr babies.

Oh, thank you. I don't know, but logically I think it could be a factor. I will say though that my dad was sure my dd was delayed around that age. She won't stop talking now.

DD was full size full term and at 2 could say about 5 words, she had speech therapy for 3 years. She never shuts up now. Actually, before she could talk she never shut up.

My daughter was early by 5 weeks. By 2 1/2 she had a vocab of maybe 5 words and I had just spoke to the dr about an autism screening when a little switch flipped in her head and she began to speak! She LITERALLY went from 5 words to 3 word sentences within a week or so! I could hardly believe it. Obviously she was collecting it all in her little head... she just didn't feel like sharing it until she was good and ready! :)
Always trust your gut. Bring the baby in if need be... but don't freak yourself out too much. Sometimes they just work on their own clock! :)

DH is IUGR. He had speech therapy in elementary school. I have no idea when he started speaking. He's a successful engineer.

My daughter is IUGR and has no speech issues. She is still extremely small though, she will be 5 in March and weighs 31 pounds!

My oldest son was and he is autistic and doesn't say many words. My middle DD had it and was born 6wks early and has a slight speech delay but making great progress. My youngest didn't have it and he typically developing.
