As I was  online last night, I came across a great question. What do you feel is a comfortable age difference between siblings? The most popular answer was 18 months to 2.5 years apart. In my opinion, I believe that the closer in age the children are the better, however, I was 9 years apart from my youngest brother and 8 years apart from my middle brother. So I never had the close in age sibling. I think that the age difference between us doesn't change anything, if anything it has helped me and my youngest brother. If he needs advice and doesn't feel comfortable talking to our parents, he will talk to me. I feel that it is best for him because he can still get an adult opinion without feeling embarrassed or feel that he is being judged. BTW, youngest brother is 14 and I am 23.

DF and I are TTC baby #2 and our children will be almost three years apart.   :D

2 moms liked this

I have a 6.5 year age gap and love it.  We were focused on our first child, he understands, and can help some.  I also can devote time to second son while first son is in school.

My first two were 16 months apart. It was actually pretty easy. They are best friends and worst enemies lol. They are 4 and 5 now.

My third and first are 4 years apart and my second and third are about 2 years 8 months. Also good gaps.

Personally I preferred closer together. The newborn stage has always been an easy stage for me. It's always come naturally.

We didnt get to choose the spacing between all of our kids because if secondary infertility issues a few times.  I have found that all types of age differences can 'work' - all have their benefits and downfalls.

the age gaps between my kids are:

4 years between DD#1 and DD#2

2.5 years between DD#2 and DD#3

3.5 years between DD#3 and DS#1

12 months between DS#1 and DS#2

Dh and I did not ttc until our boys would have been a minimum of 3 years apart.

They turned out to be 3 years, 4 months apart, as it took 4 months to conceive ds2! :)
