I was just told I should respect Obama because he is our President. Does that mean we should respect all leaders? Never question them, or be disgusted with them? What about Hitler? He was a leader. Should the Germans have really respected him or should they have stood up to him more dominantly? Should we just accept it and not do anything about it when our president is doing the wrong thing for OUR country? What about every member of congress? Should we just lay down for them as well, since they have power?

Note: all I said was that I cannot stand seeing him. When I hear him speak, I want to scream (being dramatic, but he makes me cringe)

Also note: I respect the position of POTUS, not who is in office now though.

The use of Hitler was an extreme comparison. I already stated that. I want really making a sincere comparison. I agree with what you said

Quoting greenie63:

Instead of Hitler, why not use someone who was in the same position like FDR?  Some people respect FDR, while others thought he was the anti-christ, sound familiar?

People thought FDR was horrid, OMG the man put African Americans in office. He created the New Deal, and conservatives thought he was a socialist!! Sound familiar?

The man was one of the greatest Presidents to ever be in office, he was in for 4 terms. He helped relieve the stress of the great depression by creating different programs as a result of the New Deal.

I may not like everything a President does, but yes I will respect whoever is in office.

I'm not comparing im to Hitler. FFS. lol I asked a question. The only thing those 2 have in common is they were/are LEADERS, which is what this post is about. Respecting leaders. It was an extreme question to make a point.

I don't sit and complain for no reason, and I agree it is pointless (same as coming on CM to vent about your DHs, children, school, work right?)

Comparing Obama to Hitler is just absolutely ridiculous. We are in America, this is a democracy, he was voted into office. He is not a dictator, those who voted for him were not forced to do so. He is not a terrorist or a murderer like Hitler. I can't even believe someone would see the leader of the free world in the same light as an evil man who was the cause of one of the darkest times in modern history. A man who ordered the murder of millions and enjoyed doing it. I mean, not liking Obama is one thing, but he is NOTHING like freakin' Hitler. FFS.

That being said, it doesn't mean you have to "lie back and take it". If you don't like his policies or whatever, speak up. Use your power as a free citizen with rights and protest. Write letters. Sign petitions. Speak up to your local and state politicians. Your state congressman/woman. It may not get you immediate and obvious results, but it's a helluva lot more productive than sitting around and bitching for no reason.

There is a huge difference between Hitler and Obama lol. I am not a fan of Obama but everyone was the same when Bush was in office. You don't have to respect him you don't have to like him but you do have to wait till his last term is up and hope for the best.

I didn't like Bush but I still respected the position he was in. However, I guess I understand our President's only one man and is not soley responsible for the mess we're in

Though I respect the office of the Presisdent very much, I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR OBAMA.  I think that the majority of our country was against him and he is completely against God and all that God stands for, I believe that God allowed him to be there because Obama is going to put things in to place that will lead to the end of the world: such as one world currency, gay marriage, and the mark of the beast which is happening now with the chips beginning to be put into foreheads of wrists~Obamacare is going to be part of all this.:

And several other things which are to take place.

It just all had to happen and Obama is going to be playing a major roll in bringing it all in.

I'm sorry you see  this as being that way.  I am not being at all hateful like those people (who really are not even a church but rather just a group of people~mostly family).  I do however not respect Obama because I do see steps that he is taking which are spoken of in the Bible as things which will happen in the end times.  I believe that God allowed Obama to be elected again because he is going to bring many of these things to pass.

I don't believe me saying this is any different than things people say about other politicians.

Yep. Questioning a leader or having a discussion about issues does not equal disrespect. Now if you are yelling over them while they are talking, name calling or in their face, that's disrespectful. Anything can be brought up and talked about in a respectful manner.

this is what I say

Quoting mcwife86:

you can disagree with someone, lay out all of the valid points, and dislike the job they are doing and still be respectful while doing so.
