I personally waited until she was able to care for them herself which was last summer at age of 6. Daddy wasnt too happy but i made the call since my mom offered it to dd.

I did then when she was 5 and could be responsible for them for herself.

DH and I are thinking about letting her pierce her ears when she's 6-7 and is old enough to take care of them herself.

I waited until she was able to tell me it was what she wanted.

I waited until DD wanted them done. She was 5. She was very responsible in cleaning them and making sure they were taken care of. She asked for her second hole last year. We let her get it done. She was the same way. Made sure they were cleaned and taken care of.

I said she could when she could be responsible for them which I arbitrarily decided was 6. She chose to wait until she was 7.

When I was 8, I asked my mom to have them done. She took a day off work, took me to the mall, bought me a new outfit and got them done. We then had lunch and went to the movies. Today it is still one of the best memories I have. I plan to wait and do something similar with my daughter.
