My niece was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome when she was about five. She is now in her senior year of high school.
My SIL was told by doctors and schools that she should never expect too much from her first born daughter, but she did anyway. Today her dd got an acceptance letter to the college that she wants to attend. She has gone to high school while simultaneously going to college since the beginning of her junior year. She is already half way to an associates degree and hasn't even graduated high school yet. I am super proud of her. I give my SIL a whole lot of credit too for being such an awesome mom and advocate for her daughter.
I cried when my niece called to tell me that she got an acceptance letter. I knew she would.
