Get pregnant on the depo shot? I have been on it for about 4 years on and off. Would miss a shot here and there since I had nothing to worry about. I am with someone now and have talked about have a child. I figured that since I am on the shot, the sex would be unprotected and no pulling out since we both agreed about having a child. Since I am on the shot, how possible is it for me to get pregnant? I am not due for my next one till Feb and am planning on not getting it any way. Thanks!

I really don't want to sound rude or mean or anything because I don't know you or your situation and I could come out sounding like a complete ass so advance apologies here but why would you want to get pregnant because you're "with someone and have talked about it". Why not wait until you're married or more committed? (sorry, your wording just makes it sound like it's a rather new relationship)
Feel free to not reply if you're insulted. I'm just curious.

No worries! We do plan on getting married. I researched about getting pregnant after being on depo for so long and heard that it can take a year or longer. That is why we are trying now if it may take that long.

Oh ok. That makes sense.
I guess I'm a little sceptical of the whole babies before marriage thing because of my SIL. She got pregnant two weeks into her relationship because she was hoping to get married and live happily ever after. He did marry her a couple of years later but they're so miserable together and it makes the children suffer because they have to live with mommy and daddy fighting. So I always tell people to marry first.
Anyway, good luck and best wishes to the both of you.

I have heard it can take up to a year to get pregnant. my best friend stopped getting the shot 10 months ago and has yet to get pregnant.

It certainly wasn't for me. It took almost 2 years after stopping the shot for me to get pregnant.
