Efile, turbotax, H&R Block????????????

How trustworthy is Efile or Turbotax compared to H&R Block or other companies that file for you?

How close are the returns? Do you get back close to the same amount?

Have you used Efile to get an esimate of what you will get back but then gone to H&R for them to file?

Where do you get your taxes done?

Who does your taxes?

I just don't like paying $300+ for an hours worth of work. I know they are doing their job but geez.

Added info. 3 w2s, dh and I both get firefighter credits, and we homeschool (is there a credit for that)?

Thanks

We use Turbo Tax every year and love it.  H&R Block is a rip off, haven't used Efile.

Our federal return this year was 64 pages and cost $60 - with audit security.

I have used turbo tax for the last 5yrs. Pay $19.99 for the audit defense.

How difficult is it? We will have 3 w-2s and we both get Firefighter credits??

I have used turbo tax the last few years and it's never missed a credit.

My husband and I went to h&r a few years back. They told my husband (we weren't married at the time but he was supporting me) that he couldn't claim me as a dependent because there was no blood relation. We paid them $100 to get taxes done and ended up owing that year and went through an audit.
We used turbotax the year after and I actually fit under the definition of eligable dependent and haven't had a problem out of it. No audits, no owing taxes. And it's really easy to do because they walk you through everything.

Extremely easy.  We have a lot of deductions and all and it walks you through every step.  It will even help you find hidden deductions to maximize your return.  You should check it out.  You don't have to pay until the end, so if you're not satisfied, you don't have to file.

It gives you a running total of your return and also your audit risk.  It also checks for errors or anything you may have missed.

Does that include the audit protection?

we go thru taxslayer.com  you just enter all your info. they totally walk you thru it. its so simple and easy and they only charge you $20. we use to go thru H&R Block. but their fees started going higher and higher. use to be like$150 and the last time we went thru them a few years ago it was almost $400. total waste of money when you can do it yourself online way cheaper.
