Where to donate hair my son is wanting to do this??????

y son has hair to the middle of his back when dry.....he is 13 and almost done with middle school. Wanting to cut his hair and donate. Where and how do we do this other then locks of love? Im not liking all the things i hear about them.
He has hadd long hair all of his life so this is a really big decision for him. He has such a big heart and i am so proud of him. He has only had one major hair cut and we kept that ponytail when he was younger. Even then it was still around his shoulders. So any info or ideas would be great =oD

How long is his hair?  Most places won't take hair under 12 inches long.

Do a google search for hair donation to find places close to you....or places you can mail the hair to....and check their individual rules.

I think pantene has a link for it or another hair company does.   We just do locks of love since a few salons give free haircuts/styles for donation.

Thank you both.....we are doing either pantene or wigs for kids and it goes to children at St. Jude hospital .

My younger brother used to have very long hair and needed to cut it to continue being a volunteer fireman. He was going to donate it; it was to be a very big deal in town with news coverage and everything (very small town) they ended up forcing him out and never doing the story on his hair or even getting it donated. He was disappointed in the whole situation because he really wanted to give someone a wig after our grandfather died of cancer.
