Do you allow unbuckled adults in your car?

Posted by   + Show Post

The other thread got me wondering....

I know that most of us make sure our children are buckled up in the car....but what about other adults riding with you?  Do you insist that adults riding in your car buckle up?  (I'm talking about in YOUR car/when you are driving....not when you are a passenger in THEIR car.)

LOL- most newer cars have alarms that sound if your front seat passenger is not buckled.  Since I don't want to listen to it I insist that the adult in the front be buckled.  In the back- nope- you are an adult and you make your own choices and pay your own consequences.  I live in NYS and if the unbuckled person is not a minor, they get the ticket, not the driver.

The only time I would say something is if they are in the front seat and the bell keeps going off, other than that no.

All passengers in my car are either buckled or they can find another ride. No exceptions.

Ive never had to ask. Its common sense, you get in a car, you buckle up

This.. but I have to say something to the kids friends that get into my car. Wont turn the car on untell they put on their seatbelts. I'm surprised just how many of my kids friends DO NOT wear them!

No. They're adults. I ask them to but if they don't want to that's all on them.

Car doesn't move until everyone is buckled. I don't need a 200 lb projectile hitting my kids.

No.  If you want to ride in my car, you will buckle up.  I will not take chances with anyone's life in case of an accident.  It's just not worth it.  Plus, it's the law!

Hopefully that works. That's why everyone buckles in my vehicle. No exceptions.

If the link doesn't work, it's 5 passengers, one unrestrained, 3 dead.
