Angry with teacher! What would you do?

My stepdaughter and I are in her room playing and she said:

"Jill gave me some trash packs and I loved them. I put them in my desk and then I got up to go to lunch and when I got back they were gone. I looked in Jane and Jan's desks but they weren't there. I don't know what happened."

I asked, "Do you think someone stole them."

"Well it might have been Kay"

"Kay" is the autistic girl in my little girl's class.

I said, "Well I don't want anyone stealing from you, but I'm proud of you for being understanding about Kay. What did your teacher say when you told her they were gone from your desk?"

"She said to go back to my desk and she'd handle it later."

"What did she do later?"

"Nothing! But maybe they fell on the floor. I hope they don't get swept up off of the floor or something."

"Did you look on the floor? Were they inside your desk?"

"They were in my pencil pouch in my desk"

"Then I doubt they fell on the floor kiddo."

She is so kind hearted! And some kid stole something from her desk. I am going to talk to her teacher tomorrow. But I don't know exactly what to do or how hard to push it. The teacher should have done something about it!

her teacher may have forgotten, a lot can happen during the course of the day. Have your step daughter ask her teacher about it tomorrow before class starts.

What are trash packs and are they something that shouldn't be at school?

They are toys, and DD's teacher allows toys as long as they don't disrupt the class and finish their work first.

Stealing is wrong, but they shouldnt have been in school.
I would say something to the teacher, see what she says, but she most likely wont be able to find out who took them.

That's what I figured. When you bring items from home, you run the risk of them being taken. It stinks, but it's normal/common. The only thing complaining to the teacher will do is result in NO more toys being allowed to be  brought from home.

My DD's friend brought them from school because DD wanted those three specific ones as a special gift. DD put them in her desk immediately.

And the teacher allows it in class.

That is one of the hard knocks of school life.  I had once taken in a stuffed hedgehog to show a friend since i was able to buy it with my own money ( a big deal at the time) and someone stole it w/o me knowing.  I was so upset.  Teachers arent responsible for any personal property brought in.   I havent heard of trash packs before.

My sons teacher allows it also, but he still doesnt take toys to school. They get lost, stolen, or broken, and then i have to hear about it. Toys dont belong in school unless they are for school specifically. Idk. Just sayin.

I would let it go. Teacher's get busy and do forget things.
