I have a question regarding why would a root canal need to be done on baby teeth? I understand on adult teeths but on baby teeths.

I'm not a dentist but there was a time when one of mine could have had one. She had an abscess in her tooth. The choices were to pull it or get a root canal. The bad part about pulling is it doesn't save a place for the big tooth.

I was a dental asst. for over 10 years, it is done to get rid if the rest if the nerve and any remaining infection, a crown is then placed on the tooth to strengthen it and to keep it as a space maintainer. If the tooth were to be pulled you should really put in a space maintainer.
