My husband is telling me to lie

I went to register my son for soccer. It is a team for 3 year olds. He turns 3, fourteen days from the cut off date (still before the season begins) My son really wants to play. I contacted them by email to see if they would make an exception. What would you do?

I would say sorry son, you are not old enough and we can go watch them practice sometime so we know what to expect next year.  I would not push my child in when there are cut off dates.
