Ok, I am a single mother (but I am dating someone). Currently right now it is my son (6) 1 cat, 1 dog and I. We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a huge fenced in back yard and a attached garage. I pay 730 a month for rent plus other bills. In my area I can hardly find an a apartment for the rate I pay for this house. But, somedays I feel like it is too big for us. I hate taking care of the yard because it is so big. The house needs a lot of work. It needs new windows and insulation bad. We live in Michigan and my heat bill has been 300's every month for the past 4 months. It is kicking my butt!!

Today was a warmer day out so my son went out and enjoyed the back yard. It made me melt seeing him outside running around with his dog. i know if I move into an apartment this will not happen. :(

I don't like the bigger city near me, but I am ok about the suburb I live in. But not to happy with thing that surround me. Like for an example, I love WholeFoods, Trader Joes, Ikea and Home Goods. None of these stores are anywhere near me. The nearest one is like 45 minutes from me.

My lease runs up in July and I need to prepare to move now. I just don't know what to do. :(

Thanks for the vent!

I live in a house. I like my children to be able to just play in the yard. I don't think I would give that up.

How much more would you have to pay to rent an apartment?

For one with my standards, about 900 a month. A huge leap!

So that would probably even out the heating bill.

I guess I don't quite understand why you're moving.

I live in a house out in the boonies....We have two kids, a good size back/front yard. 3bd. 1ba. for $400, but it is 65yo (I think) and needs insulation, new windows, new doors, etc...

i'd stay, it's always easier to stay than move

and a house is almost always better than an apartment if you can afford it
