We are having trouble with lying and stealing. s soon as she earns a little trust she steals again and we are at our wits end. today we found out that she stole her uncles cell phone. she had just gotten off restriction  the last issue she had. Any ideas on how to deal with this? she is already in counselling. please help

My mom went through this with my little brother. She done the scared straight program, and toook everything away from him. It was not a fact of lack of disipline, but was him just trying to figure out how far he could go until she finally got over it. I would talk to her mostly, it couldbe she is looking for a motherly figure she has never had, and is acting out in a attempt to get it. See if maybe giving her a little big more TLC will make things better, and if it doesn't then see about pressing unruly charges on her and having her put on probation.

How old is she?  This will matter in how i would discipline her.

What is her excuse, for stealing ?

Make her return it, --- Call the person before, even if a store,.

You are bringing her to return, it and "TELL THEM TO ACT VERY UPSET"

That is good advice for all ages from toddlerhood through teen years.

Are you in counseling to help you figure out ways to deal with this?

Welcome to CafeMom,
Gosh lots of consequences when you catch her doing this
I also agree with the returning of it & apologizing.
Let us know how it goes ;)
