i wanted to get dds done when she was a baby but then thought about it and felt it was mean in a sense. wouldnt that hurt the baby? my now xdh said we would get hers done when she decided which seems fair. however i havea cousin who usually gets hers done within the first few months of the baby being done. not sure what im having yet but if its a girl im considering the ear piercing just not sure if im confortable with it...so here i am asking...when did you decide to get dds? and what do you think is a suitable age?

I will when she asks and I will take her to a professional piercer that uses a needle and not one of those guns.

She was 6.  Old enough to understand the responsibility of having them. It hurt for a split second and she was fine.  Babies can accidently tug on their ears and cause trauma with the earrings.  I think doctors offices will do it for you to minimize pain and perhaps spray a bit of numbing stuff on it.

At the recommendation of our pediatrician we pierced her ears at 4 months.

She is 7 now and has the choice to wear them or not. Never a single problem.

I have boys so not piercings but for little girl babies that are African American 6 weeks is a popular age and every girl in my family had there ears pierced around that time.

She was 9 moths old.I have heard that you shouldn't get them done between the ages of 1-5 because they remember it as a bad experience. Not sure how true it is though.
