How much did you weigh and did you have to buy an extra seat?

I'm just frustrated right now because I planned and paid for a flight in may and afterward I read their policy on weight and I'm afraid ill have to buy another seat which I can't afford :-( I didn't realize and I can't refund the tickets and take the train instead.

Idk what to do. I weigh 285 and my recliner has a 17 inch seat width (same as the airline seats). Do I get super tight pants or some of those squeeze shorts so I don't get singled out? It's only a 90 minute flight.

I need some advice badly. I've been depressed the last few months and I got back up to 285 from the 255 and losing I was.

I doubt you'll be singled out. I can't say how it is for civilian flights, but I'm about 40lbs lighter and I flew last July and was plenty fine.

My husband is 270 and never has to get a second seat. Now he is never comfy in the seats but he is also very tall so no leg room doesn't help.

My mom is about that weight and she has never had to buy a second seat.

I fly a lot (about 15 times a year) and have never seen someone buy an extra seat. Can you pay the $50 extra to sit in the exit row or the first row after 1st?

Update! I called southwest and they said they don't make you buy a second seat (though they have in recent years). They just ask you to tell them at check in if you need one so they know in advance.
