did you know this about microwaving baby bottles?

I was just watching an episode of 16 and pregnant. (Yeah I know...lame) Anyways they kept microwaving the bottle

This can cause hot spots that can burn the babys throat. ( breast milk and formula)And it can also damage the quality of the breast milk.

Its been drained into my head after all the years of doing licensed daycare. Its always best to run the bottle under hot water or boil water on the stove.
Another tip with formula: just so.that I make sure I'm putting the right amount of scoops in the bottle I count out loud.. lol. I have a lot of little ones that can be distracting.

Ok...I've been up way too long with my baby...lol

Bluepandadreams reminded me of something else! Even when I boil the water I'm.still careful and shake the bottle and test it on my wrist! Also, I never boil the bottle. I turn off the burner. Wait a couple minutes and then place the bottle in the pot. After that I keep shaking it and then testing on my wrist...I have a lil guy in my daycare on breast milk and he has to.have it just the right temp or he won't eat! Lol

Yep...I shake it up and always test on my wrist

Quoting BluePandaDreams:

There should be any issue with a 2-3 second micro, shaking the bottle real good, or letting ot set while changing the little one. At least, that's how i did it. You still hace to be careful when you use water that has been boiled.

I never warmed the milk in the microwave. I would put the water in to heat. Then add the formula to the bottle.

I use room temperature for formula but on the rare occasion that I have had to refrigerate a bottle, I microwave it for a very minimal time and check it on my wrist after shaking the bottle up. The milk is still cool and its just to take the chill out. I've never had a problem doing it this way.

I used the microwave with my formula fed baby. Shaking it gets rid of the hot spots. It's a liquid.

But, you never nuke breastmilk... you destroy all the goodies that way.

I thought microwaving anything plastic was bad.. But I've always known to boil or run the bottle under hot water, and at the time i didn't have kids.. It has to be common since lol
