I should I live in a safe area. The problem is I grew up in Houston so doors being locked is a must.

When I was little, I would stay the night with my aunt, uncle and cousin way out in the country... They would always leave their doors unlocked... but anytime I stayed the night out there, I MADE them lock their doors. I grew up in the city so we always locked our doors. I couldn't sleep if I knew they were unlocked. I just felt unsafe.

For the most part, yes. I have six large dogs and my husband has guns. I have a Beware of dog sign, for my dogs' safety, not yours. One of my dogs is a 200 pound St. Bernard and he may be a sweet cuddly teddy bear with family but if you try to hurt me, my husband, or my child he will rip you a new one and then you will have to deal with the other dogs, who are equally protective. I pity the idiot that comes into my house looking for trouble. For the most part, we don't have trouble because we live in a low crime rural area but we do keep our door locked and the dogs loose, just in case. They are great family dogs but they are also great watch dogs.

We have. We live in the country so it's locked if we remember to. We didn't have central heating and air when we were kids so we even slept with the doors open.
