Mother's Day is in two weeks. What would you like for your special day?

DF usually takes me out for a meal and gets me flowers. Occasionally I get a gift but I honestly don't care if I get one or not. There is something I would like but it doesn't have to be for Mother's Day. I have my eye on a mother's necklace or ring with mine, DF's, DD's and baby's birthstones on it. I am getting my mother a grandmother's ring this year. I wish I could be there when she opens it to see her reaction. She's been dropping hits at my dad for a couple of months now that that is what she would like. Lol.

What about you? What would like or would like to do for your Mother's Day this year?

I want to take my mom to the casinos! I have never been to them and she loves them.

Yeah I definitely know how you feel. DIstance can be a real witch sometimes. How often do you see your parents?

I hear ya there. My mother lives in Florida and I'm in NJ. Do your parents live in a different state that you?

Quoting Bethsunshine:

Go visit my parents in SC. That's probably not going to happen though.

 I live in PA.

Once or twice a year. The last time was at Christmas. We wanted to make a trip down there this spring, but my husband's work schedule is so unpredictable, we can't make plans. He literally doesn't know from one week to the next when he will be working. There is a SMALL chance we'll be able to go down there for a few days for Mother's Day if he is working midnight shift that week, and he doesn't have to work the weekend; he might be able to call off a day. It will only be a couple of days that we'd be there but that's better than nothing. I have to wait and see. He'll do whatever he can to try and figure something out because he knows how important it is to me.

I know! The only reason other than the fact that we are getting married, we can go down to FL this summer is because of DF's income tax check return. Other than that, I probably wouldn't have been able to see her. I see her maybe once a year. Do or have your parents ever come up to PA to see you? In the ten years I've lived in NJ my parents have come here twice.

Quoting thickmamaof2:

We go to my in laws. I don't even see my mom on mothers day. I cried like a big baby about it last year cause I hadn't seen my mom in 2 years. Being broke sucks!

Quoting 1st_time_mom789:

I'm sorry. Do you guys do anything? Go out to dinner? Get a meal in bed? Spend quality family time?

Quoting thickmamaof2:

Well I'm a little bitter about mothers day. I have never received a gift. 5 years and 2 kids later and I have not got one gift.

Well I'm in Texas. My mom lives a hour away and my dad lives in SC. He doesn't come to visit.he has a 25 year old pregnant wife and a 4 year old son. My mom comes when she can take off work. We had a huge tragedy happen 17 months ago that started a big spiral effect. And every time we almost get caught up, something knocks us back down. Long sorry. I'm sorry for complaining on your post. I hope you have a great mothers day Mama!!!

It's ok. I kind of know how you feel about your dad. Mine only lives a half hour away and I've seen him only twice in the last two years. Both times on Christmas. He is so far up his wife's butt, she makes all the calls and he goes along with it. I am actually going to see him for the first time since Christmas last year, because my FIL is taking us to a Yankees game today.

I get the day to myself each year, which is exactly what I want. I go to the garden center and set up my front porch for the season. My husband will make pancakes and the kids will give me cards.
