We're finally somewhat getting settled into our house. It's an old house and was empty for about 3 years. The cabinets and drawers STINK! I've washed them but cannot get the smell out. What can I do?!

 What did you clean with?

I'd try sprinkling baking soda in the drawers and cabinets and letting it sit for a day or so.

We lived in a rental apartment that had stinky drawers. I asked the owner if I could paint them. That got rid of the smell.

Cleaned them with bleach and water. Works for that day but then the smell comes back. I'll try the baking soda. Thanks!

what do they smell like?  I always wash everything down with lysol, then add liner to all drawers & shelves.

Living in a house that has set that long it could be something as simple as a dead mouse behind the drawer or under the sink....it's gross but they smell horrid !!!!

Dry coffee grounds will absorb odors. Also check for dead furries

I can't pinpoint what the smell is. Just smells weird and old.

I've smelled a dead mouse before. Thankfully, this smells nothing like that. Just old and weird. I can't really describe it.
