Boy Scouts vote to end ban on gay youth members - good idea?

Posted by   + Show Post

Today, the Boy Scouts of America, decided to break 103 years of tradition by allowing openly gay members into its ranks.

Do you think it's about time or a bad idea?

I love my scouts. I love the boys, I love the parents, I also love that our charter organization is ok with us having gay youth in our troop/pack. We will still teach morals and team building and support. None of that will change. The only thing that will change are sleeping arrangements if we have a gay youth

Keep in mind that part of scouting is teaching our boys how to work together in dynamic groups. If we segregate our chhildren fromm people who learn different or who have different beliefs or don't think like them in general what message are we sending them.

A step in the right direction, but what happens to those openly gay boys who reach Eagle level at around 18 and want to stay involved in Scouts? That's right....they still can't be part of the organization since adults aren't allowed. Until it changes, my sons won't be allowed.

I won't be impressed until they allow gay troop leaders and atheists.

They are only "allowing" them so they can save them from their deviancy.

Don't matter to me. I don't care for the scouts. But I know many scout troops hold their meetings or whatever they call them in churches. With this, I imagine they will either have to find a new meeting place or disband. Personally, I hope the whole concept of scouting goes away.
