HELP! chickin pox?.*update on gwen

Posted by   + Show Post

*update!!! great news!!its not chicken pox!!!!  Bad knews....its a staff infection made worse from heat and her running and itching it. they gave us liquid antibiotics and a night cream to put on it.  and i have to clean everything!! its not highly contagius but it can be trasfered to an open wound.

My poor 2 year old gwen a few days ago got a couple bumps. i thought they were bug bites so i didnt think anything of it. THen that night we had ar eally HOT night so i thought hteat rash. well TOday its even worse!!!!  She has a appt. for 915 in the morning but i wish i could help her now!  im using bactine and that helps her. Iv also giving her oat meal baths which help but she is "neat freak"  so getting it on her bothered her so badly.  I have no idea what it is.  and im worried my 7 week old will get it!!  Im using same laundry soap same body soap no lotions.  and its spreading across her chest and back. and its starting on her fingers and knees!!

THey are redder and bigger then they look inthe pictures.

It could be something called henoch scholien purpura HSP

it looks very similar to what my son presented with when he had it

just ask the dr when u see him/her to rule it out or confirm it

it tends to "grow" looking like a rash

My youngest was diagnosed with this a few weeks ago. Worst day ever so far. I couldn't touch her skin the damn thing was attacking her blood vessles. It was scarey. Had her hooked up to IVs and gave her loritab and ibuprofen just for the pain so they could touch her to assess her. Finally when the purple welts appeared we knew what it was.

It is scary to go through! But mostly they need to be watched closely & they are okay. My  son had a very bad case in second grader

scary as it is for most kids ther are not long lasting effects

it is something that some docs don't ccatch that is why I told OP to ask about it

It was awful seeing her screaming in pain and I couldn't even comfort her because the smallest touch on her skin was extremely painful. The thought that it could come back in the next 2 months is terrifying. She had one more bout with it a week or so ago. Was crying in the middle of the night momma help me I can't walk again...I am getting greyer by the day..

definitely she went from walking with a limp to total screaming and unable to be touched in a matter of an hour. After an hour or so in the ER the purple red blotches started appearing. Her pediatrician was telling me that she had a case a month earlier and it was so bad the little boy was hospitalized for over a week. I can't imagine. Now the waiting starts to see if she has another reoccurance. It may or may not happen.

1 mom liked this

I can imagine. :(  My 21 month old had mono a few months back and that alone was horrible...he ended up with post-viral cerebralitis due to it, could barely walk...it was nuts.  I figure eventually I am going to have to start dying my hair to cover all the grays my kids have given me, lol.
