Ugh. Sometimes parents are so rude! I see bashing of teachers and a schools all the time, just wanted to share 2 things that happened today that shows it goes both ways.
I am teaching summer school right now. My class is developmentally delayed kids headed to kinder next fall. The entire program is kids with delays. Some with downs, cerebral p, cognitive disabilities, etc. all of them are going into 3rd grade or less. Imagine if you will a playground filled with about 60 kids in wheelchairs, some walking with mobility issues but all of them disabled i one way or another. A mother came on the playground with 2 large puppies (maybe 9 month old labs) she let them loose but soon noticed kids being knocked down and screaming. She couldn't get them to come back to her and by the time we the teachers caught her dogs more than a dozen kids were bleeding and crying. Who the hell lets untrained dogs jump all over disabled kids that you don't even know? Dogs shouldn't ever be on a school playground, certainly not in this situation.
My next vent is one mom was 20 minutes late picking up her disabled twins today. Really? Do you think i don't have my own kids to get home to? Twins? Aren't you at all concerned about your disabled twins?

Rude People!  My dd is a teacher too. Yes, she has a husband and 2 kids at home.  She doesn't want to hang around babysitting your kids.

Sounds very frustrating! The dog lady seems unreasonable. However, I'm sure that the mom of disabled twins cares about her children. I think that being the parent of a child with special needs must be especially difficult and we don't always see another person's struggle.

For the mom who was 20 minutes late do you know why? We had a really bad accident on a major street today almost all of the southbound lanes were closed. You have never been late anywhere due to circumstances beyond your control? Unless this Mom has a habit of being late then you should try to be more understanding. As for the dogs why couldn't they have stayed in the car while she picked up the kid (s)? That I agree with you on.

She was an hour and a half late to school yesterday, a half hour late today, disrupting the class of dd kids as they come in. Last week of the 3 days of school she was 5 minutes late 2 days and 15 one.
She lives 2 blocks from the school and has no other children. After a week and a half of summer school i have lost my patience, especially since its been near 90 and I'm 6 months pregnant!

I've never once gotten annoyed with a parent who simply CALLED and told us they were running late.  Shit happens.  We get it.  Just CALL!

Dogs on a playground is one of my all time top pet peeves!  While I've never seen anybody let dogs loose while a class was using the playground (SMH!!!) I know a few folks around here who take their dogs for walks up at the school each night because there's nobody there to see them NOT pick up after their dogs.  Nice, eh?

Did you get all the info from that pet owner?  They should be responsible for any injuries and any other backlash from that.  Holy cow.

The director went and talked to her and escorted her away. Not sure if she got info.
