What time do you think is an appropriate bed time for elementary age kids? My boys are 8 and 6 and go to need between 8 and 830 during the week. My baby sister had told me (and my kids) that I'm mean for making them go to bed that early. Her 9 year old step daughter and 4 year old son stay up until 930 most nights, and its not uncommon for it to be closer to 1030. I'm not asking what to do about my sister, she is a brat and that's pretty much all there is to it. But it did make me curious about other moms bedtime opinions.

My kids go to bed between 8-8:30 for my almost 8 year old and my 10 year old. My almost 4 year old goes to bed between 7:30-8.  Even in the summer they are in bed by 9 pm. They are up at 6:30 in the morning for school.

My girls go.to bed on school nights at 9 but they get up really early at 6 so I want them to get sleep. On weekends and vacations they're up to 10-1030

On the nights I have no school it will be 830-900 depending on what time I get home from my meetings. On the nights I have school it is 1015 only because that's what time we get home. School is out around 930 then we go straight to daycare to get them. Then home n into jammies. Not ideal but it's what has to happen right now. We would prefer it be 8-830 on school nights.

My son turned 9 this spring and is going into 4th grade.  He had an 8:30 bedtime last year.  He wants me to bump it to 9 this school year.  I'm not sure yet.  Thinking of trying the 9 and seeing how he does with it.

DD is in bed at 8pm. She doesn't always fall asleep right away but at least she's relaxing. If she were to go to sleep right away she would get 11 hours of sleep which is what she needs. I've tried moving bedtime earlier but it's a disaster.

My 5 year old starts K this year. He will stick to his normal bed time of 8:00.
Some nights may be a little later though, depending on what time I get off work.
