My kid runs around barefoot

We live in the Seattle area and Ds and myself don't wear shoes during the summer 99% of the time. But about two weeks ago Ds got this huge ass blister on his foot. I'll add a pick in the reply warning it does look horrible. But anyways I took him to the doctor because of the way it looked and his doctor asked me "does he run around barefoot a lot" I said "yes" he goes "perfect". So kids running around barefoot means I'm an awesome mom. Lol I just had to share bot all pedi's think kids should always be in shoes.

So do mine. My pediatrician agrees that it's fine. My son did step on a bee last summer but he lived. He didn't even cry.

I like barefoot inside, but outside too many things to get stepped on.

What did the doctor say caused the blister? Is the little one OK now?

My daughter and I go barefoot the majority of the time in the summer. I had a huge blister on my thumb when I was a kid it ended up being a staph and strep infection.

Yep mine too. I would say close to 95% of Australian kids spend the majority of their childhood barefoot.

i was always barefoot as a kid. Only thing that happened to me was once I walked on a piece of glass that was filthy and a big ass blister appeared...they had to hold me down to suck out the liquid inside of it. It was painful and I screamed lol.

No we couldn't figure out the cause but he had two infections in the foot. He had two types of strep throat and then antibiotic resistant MERSA.

After take keflex for 10 days he was back to being a happy pain free non blister kid.

I hate to wear shoes, so do my kids.  We only wear shoes when absolutely necessary.
