Has this happened to anyone else?

My 6 year old DS woke up with blood pooled in his ear this morning and complaining he couldn't hear. I cleaned his ear and off to the doctor we went. The doctor checked his ears and said the one was really red inside but couldn't see all the way into the canal to find a source of bleeding. So we were sent home with an antibiotic and a steroid ear drop. His hearing in that ear comes and goes but seems to be gone more than present. He's has tubes in the past but they have fallen out. When we follow up in 2 weeks i'm going to ask for a referral to and ENT. Has this happend to either yourself or you little one? What was the cause.

I would demand the ENT referral now. That doesn't sound normal.

It sounds like a burst eardrum to me. I know one of my uncles had an eardrum burst and had blood coming out of his ear.
