roll when its still warm and use a light towel
When you roll it, use one of those lint free tea towels, not a regular towel.
Cook the cake on parchment paper (it's much easier to take out of the pan, I also spray the paper with Bakers joy. When you take it out wrap in in a damp tea towel and roll it up and put it in the fridge for a hour or so. Until you get practice you may crack the cake a little but it still tastes the same. After you put the cream cheese mix in and roll it back up wrap it in foil and freeze it before serving.

Maybe start from a hill so you get distance without to much strain!
