In talking with some friends about health insurance and the new "Obamacare" crap, I was told that what I currently pay ($499) isn't that bad. I don't think it's really bad, but I don't think it's great either. With Obamacare my premiums for equal coverage is going to be more than $900 per month though. Now that is truly bad to me.

My husband is covered separately so this is just insurance for myself and two teenagers. Is what I'm currently paying, $499, really that good?

What do you currently pay for health insurance and how many people does it cover?

We pay right at 500 and under the new care it would cost us 1100 for a similar coverage, it actually had a bit higher deducible though.

We pay $202 monthly, cap is $3000 a year.  We have tricare reserve select.  When I had my company insurance, it was $400 a year and our cap was $8000.  That was over two years ago, it is much worse now.

We pay $330 a month for two adults and three kids. MOOP is $5000, copay is 80/20. It's pretty great insurance. Next time, though, we're signing up for option A, which is gonna be closer to $400 a month, but with a $2500 MOOP.

Our portion of insurance through my husband's employer is $600something every month. I can't remember exactly. I do know, he gets $300something taken out every other week.

We don't have health insurance. We pay as needed & it works for our family. Quite honestly, its our right whether we choose to have health insurance. I'd say in any given year between the 3 of us we spend on averqhe between $1,000-$12,000 a yr depending on what we need.

I pay $0 through work. However, if I had DH and the kids on it, it would be about $800/month. They are covered with Dh's work, and I honestly don't know how much it is.

We didn't have insurance for a couple of years and it was way cheaper to pay cash than to have insurance. However, our options were more limited, but for basic stuff, it was a much better deal.

I don't have health insurance either but soon you and I will be fined for not having it. During tax returns for the year 2014 the fine will be 1% of you income. For 2015 the fine will be 2%, and in 2016 it will be 3% of your income. For the first time in US history you can and will be punished for NOT buying something. It's disgusting.
