What's the going rate for the tooth fairy?

My son lost his first tooth last week. I asked how much he thought he'd get from the tooth fairy. He said $5. I thought that was fair. I left a five under his pillow. He called my parents the next day to brag and apparently that was a lot of money from the tooth fairy. To be fair, all I had was five.

I'm kinda disappointed, though. I thought he'd want to go buy something with it, but he's chosen to save it. Smart move, but I'm a little bummed.

We have done little toys instead of cash but this last time it was short notice so she recieved a dollar (3rd tooth).  We explained that the tooth fairy wanted her to choose her own toy out.  DD put the money in her piggy bank for later use.  Another little girl has recieved 5 - 10 dollars per tooth, I think her fairy is richer than we are.

I don't even remember what I was given for my teeth. Five seemed fair since it was his first.

In our house it is $5 for the first tooth and $1 for every tooth after that.

Our tooth fairy leaves a $5 for each tooth, too.;)

That is what the tooth fairy just gave my ds for his tooth he recently lost. It is a lot but pretty much the going rate, as I have found out. My ds doesn't spend his money either. It always goes in his piggy bank and later put in his savings account.
