Do you still write thank you notes?

Do you think that thank you notes are important or are they an antiquated practice that no one does (and no one expects) now?

Do you write them?  Do you expect your kids to write them?

I don't expect to receive them and I find them a pain to do after the bday partyn, especially now that my kids are in classes. We have two seperate birthday parties for each child every year, that is a lot of thank you notes since each party can have up to 40 people.

For kids from class, I put a thank you note in their goody bag, saying "thanks for coming!". I think its more important to thank them for coming, than to focus on their gift.
