I meal plan for a week at a time. We only buy fresh food and don't eat canned or processed food so that's why I shop for a week at a time.

Yes. According to in season and on sale... for a long time. I guess since I was 14... the grocery list and meals were basically my job.

I can only do a week at a time. Meal planning is a must to do but it's stressful becUse I have a picky family.

I still do in a way.
What I am doing differently is simply keeping things on hand.  Like if I don't have any potatoes then I'm going to grab a 5lb bag just because.  If I'm out of rice then I pick up a bag etc...
Also, I buy different types of meat so this way I can have variety.  I always have ideas in my head so whatever I'm wanting I add to a meal plan but I'm just not as strict with it I guess starting last month.  I don't know how long I'll do it this way or if I'll go back to strict meal planning.  Dh is kind of liking it this way though, lol.

Quoting hugss:

Sounds good .. did you say you don't meal plan now though?

Quoting taKENheart:

I pretty much stuck to it but I wasn't strict about it.  Like sometimes we would have leftovers from Monday so Tuesday I'd make something else and then Wednesday we would have Monday's leftovers for example.  Prior to dh retiring I stuck to the meal plan more so because any leftovers became his weekly lunches.

Quoting hugss:

LOL .. did you stick to the days of what you had or switch it if need be?

Quoting taKENheart:

I only did one week at a time.  That way I got out of the house at least once per week lol!

Quoting hugss:

That's great you  have,
One week at a time or two?

Quoting taKENheart:

I've done it my entire adult life.
Although last month right before the shutdown we went and just stocked up on everything we typically buy on regular trips.  I kind of liked that because I could make anything I wanted on whatever day I wanted to.  When I meal plan I tend to only get what is on the list but I really like seeing my pantry and my fridge/freezer full!  I guess I could do both meal planning and restocking.
