Homemade pumpkin pie?

Attempting to make a pumpkin pie from scratch this year. Not my forte but I figure worse case scenario I can chuck it and pick up one at the store on the way to my Mom's house!... Lucy B 35 and mother of one 3 yr old son and desperately trying for another for 2 years and counting.....

I've never made one from scratch. I use the canned pumpkin, lol.

pumpkin pies are fairly easy. Are you using fresh or canned pumpkin?

I make them often but finding fresh pumpkin is difficult around here unless it's October.

Canned pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice and eggnog.

Canned pumpkin. So I guess it's not technically scratch. It's still a lot for me since I can find a way to mess up toast!

Since you are using canned pumpkin one trick to making it taste much better is to heat up the pumpkin in the sauce pan with the spices then let it cool completely and add everything else. It takes the can taste out of the pumpkin.

Pumpkin pie is fairly easy to make.  I just made 2 Apple butter pumpkin pie.  I did slightly burn the crust, but oh well

With the eggnog do you use that to replace the canned milk only?  It sounds like it would be good.
