Do you give your pets a party for their birthday?

I posted this in another group, and was surprised at how many people do. We love our furbabies, but have never done a party for them.

Oh god. I cannot stand people who treat animals like humans. My grandmother has outside dogs and she litterally has a heater outside for them. Insulated their doghouse and has lights in their doghouse! And she cooks for them!!! She takes better care of her dogs than herself. It's sickening.

No, they wouldn't understand why they were having it to begin with, and then afterwards, they wouldn't understand why there was no party every day for them.

No but I do get them a special dish of food for their birthdays.

No, I find that pretty ridiculous. I love my pets but they don't need birthday parties.

No parties. They're spoiled enough as it is, lol.

Of course, I'm no longer doing parties for my children either, so...call me a party pooper.

I had a friend, (well she was my mother's friend) who had a Jack Russell terrier. The dog sent out his own Christmas cards, and gave me birthday and Christmas gifts. If they went out to eat, they always bough him some type of beef, sometimes even a steak.

That's how I feel too.

I don't know about a birthday party, but giving him a special treat seems reasonable. Though my cat gets special treats fairly often anyways. I wouldn't invite friends and family and buy a cake or anything.
