How can I find affordable childcare?

Hello,

I'm new to Cafe Mom. I was wondering of anyone had advice on how to find childcare for a low price. I work full-time and do not have any family who is home to watch the baby during the day. I am only 3 months pregnant but am trying to prepare early. It would be great to find a stay at home mom who is looking to make a little extra money and have a peer for their child. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi Firebird & Jaydensmommy,

I will definitely check out Care.com. I myself was a nanny during college but at the $12 an hour I made - I'm worried a nanny will be very expensive!

I will check out Medicare as well. My boyfriend and I combined make about 80k a year, but with rent, car payments, student loans...I'm still concerned about childcare.

I wouldn't base my decision on price alone but maybe ask friends if they know of anyone or ask at your church, work, mommy groups?

If you are not married and have no other kids together his income does not matter until the child is born
