Should wedding guests be told to ditch their cells?

This morning I saw a report about couples getting married and asking wedding guests to completely disconnect their cell phones or, better yet, leave them in their cars, when coming to their wedding. They say it's so everyone can have a more enjoyable experience at the wedding, and I can see their point, but doesn't it sound selfish and rude to make it a "rule" of sorts that they must do this?

It's unreasonable to
expect guests to give up their cell phone (they may have a very good reason for needing it.

It is sad, but that's the way it is these days. People don't even think of their cells because they are such a part of their lives. The minister should make the announcement before the ceremony starts.
