Yeast Infections in Children

Is it normal for a 10 year old to get a yeast infection and, if so, what are or can be the causes?
She has discharge occasionally in which the doctor said is from her hormones changing. Has anyone else dealt with this as well ? Thank you!

It's possible.

Has she recently been on an antibiotic? This may cause yeast infections.

What about a high sugar diet. That too promotes a bad environment and can over produce yeast.

Hormonal imbalances may also cause it, but its usually because of low estrogen. If she is starting her cycle those levels would be higher.

Am sure it is possible/normal ..
I do agree about maybe having been on antibiotics recently?
Hope it is gone soon for  her ;)

I had them all the time as a kid, my doctor blamed the fact that I drank milk in crazy huge amounts.

Lots of sugar and antibiotics will do it! Poor thing, I hope it gets cleared up soon.

Next time she's on antibiotics have her eat a couple cups of yogurt each day. It should help it balance the bacteria
