Unpleasant occurrence driving in the city

I've heard of this but hadn't encountered it before. You are stopped at a traffic light in the city and a kid with squeegie runs up and washes your windshield despite shaking heads no and making pushing away motions with your hands.

Then the kid demands payment. If you refuse, they pound the car.

:(

True.

But I don't like to encourage the behavior, and I don't like to feel that I'm being taken advantage of.

That must be in the big citys or an urband legende. I have only seen that on tv.

Once when I was at a red light, a guy came out of no where and washed my windshield. I didn't even see him until he started. When he was done I said thank you. I had no cash on me anyway. It was weird. He wasn't angry that I didn't give him anything. Thank goodness!

I've heard of it but don't remember where. I think one of the kids was killed a few years ago because he was in the traffic.

As it turned out, it really is annoying, besides dangerous for the kid, since they don't clean the squeegies between applying them and our windshield ended up smudged.

*nodding*

That's good that he didn't get angry.
