I have been wanting to start my own group, i think it would be fun! But everytime I think of something, I find that there are already groups just like it! Anyone else having this problem?

Your interests and insights may be quite different from theirs altho the general category is the same!

GO FOR IT!  Start your own group!  it's SOOOOO much fun watching them grow!

I really enjoy the personal groups I've started with friends.  It gives us a place to meet and chat and share photos.  I also started a group for my family members...my Mom and my aunts...

If you start a group, you should have some people that you know will join and participate.  A lot of groups are started but never get many members and then the group kind of fades away.  Even if it's on a popular topic, you have to find a way to tell others about it, get others to join and keep coming back.

I personally think discussion groups are great - like the debate team group.  You can post different topics and people can weigh in on how they feel...  That debate group is one of the most popular groups here now.  I bet if there were a few of them they'd all do well.  Of course, you need a good group leader to keep people from attacking other points of view and to keep a good conversation going.

If you do start a group, feel free to promote it on the Recommended Groups post here.
