How do I tell him his son won't forget...

My hubby is taking a job where he's going to be away for about 6 weeks at a time and he's so nervous and scared that his son won't remember him.  I told him the truth and said that for the first year there's a good chance that he will forget him but when he's home for a little while there will be no problem.  And he keeps worrying and stuff.  What else can I say to him to ease his mind.  I don't lie to my hubby or anything so... I do'nt want to say that Brandon won't forget him, I mean he's 8 weeks old.  Of course he's going to forget someone when they are gone for over a couple of days.

How can I ease his mind?  and how can I prevent Brandon from forgeting my hubby too much?

When my husband has to go away, we put a picture of him in the kid's room (even at 8 weeks old), and with the baby we give him a shirt that smells like him (or hang it on the side of the crib, like a blanket) so he doesn't forget him.  That way the baby doesn't forget the smell of daddy.

PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES, tell your husband that you will show your son pictures of "Daddy" all the time several times a  day everyday. Let him talk to him on the phone ( I know it sounds weird but your little boy knows his daddy's voice). Good luck

LET HIM SLEEP WITH ONE OF YOUR HUBBYS T-SHIRTS, A CLEANER ONE OF COURSE. THE BABY WILL NOT FORGET BELIEVE IT OR NOT HE KNOWS HIS DADDY AND MOMMY BY SOUND AND SCENT.

Well i would white lie for this one. just to ease his mind. You could let hubby talk to him every day on the phone and show pics of him. get one of those digital picture frames and download tons of pics of your hubby and the baby on it and put it on a table by his crib on where he can see it around the house. best of luck.

My oldest sister never even got to meet our Dad until she was 18 months old. He was deployed as soon as they were first married (and dad was a furtile little fart.) to france and there was no family housing back then over there. Anyway my Mom used to tell her all about Dad. She used the picture album as a story book of sorts. I also think that with cameras being so cool as they are doing videos of your hubby and playing them would be a good thing.
