Question about when to come off birth control and try to conceive.

My husband and I would like to try for another child starting April 2008, now I know this is still a bit away, but my problem is that I am on Depo shot for birth control. Has anyone had the experience of coming off of this type of birth control and it taking them along time to get pregnant? I just don't know if I should come off early and maybe try a different kind for a bit, or if I just come off of it before we try to conceive? Please let me know if you or someone you know has had personal experience with this.

Thank you!

Hey this website here: http://community.itv.com/archive/index.php/t-4918.html  is a board where women share how long it took them.. Ill copy and paste some.. so it sounds like it does take a while...

KatWoman02-02-2006, 04:53 AMI was on the injection and came off last May. Only just within the last couple of months has my cycle become regular again. They say it can take up to a year before you become regular and apparently it will be hard to conceive in that time. But the time is different for every woman (obviously!) *Also trying so would love to know how you get on http://thismorning.groupee.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
smeagol02-02-2006, 05:13 AMI was on this years ago. It took me 8 months to get pregnant after coming off it. It was the 3 month injection. So in theory it lasted 11 months.
fkelanne02-02-2006, 05:38 AMso did u only have the 1 injection? just i have been on it for two and a half years.
tracylou02-02-2006, 06:01 AMi was on the injection for 3 yrs stopped havin it over a yr ago bleeding fairly regular after about 4 mnths but still not pregnant i am nearly 39 so could be my age was going to have fertility test but never went as my husband doesnt rearly want another one thinks im going through early mid life crisis i think (maybe i am) i have a 10 + 12 yr old fell almost instant with both of them good luck dont let the worry take the fun out of trying
smeagol02-02-2006, 06:32 AMYes I just had the one as it didn't sgree wit me at all!! I bled terribly on periods. I blew up like a balloon (went from 8 stone - 10 and a half) and had hot flushes and panic attacks! So yes I just had the one injection! http://thismorning.groupee.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
smeagol02-02-2006, 06:34 AMActually thinking back I had night sweats too. It must just make your body feel like you are going through the menopause! http://thismorning.groupee.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif well it did with me anyway!
fkelanne02-02-2006, 09:06 AMive put weight on aswell went from 8 st to 10st,
Sue Larcombe03-02-2006, 02:22 AMHi I was on the injection for about six years and when I came off, I was pregnant within 9 months, yeah I had heavier periods but I was like that before I went on it anyway, that's one of the reasons I went on it, but I found it great, it really agreed with me. I can not say that I was regular after the injection but I was not before I went on it, so you do not need to be completly regular to fall pregnant as I am proof of that as I know have a healthy 7 month old boy. I have now gone back on it and will continue to do so untill we try for our next one.
