What do you do when.......

......someone you love dearly has so much pain and there's nothing you can do? You've seen this person nearly everyday since the problem began and sometimes you don't buy what they are selling? When they think no ones looking they do things that normally would hurt them. Do I think they have pain. Absolutely. Do I think they put on a show. Absolutely. Am I completely and totally insensitive? What do you do when this person is your husband? What do I do when I know that he does hurt, but not as bad as he makes it out to be? What do I say? We can't even live a normal life because of this. Walks with our son....he won't come... Parks, beaches, anything ......he won't come... He hurts to much. He just wants to stare at the telly all day.  Through sickness and in health , for better and for worse. I love my husband, but I wish we could enjoy life more. For our sake, for our sons sake. What do I do?

He could be suffering from depression, but if the pain is physical, I can attest that it could be very real. My husband thought for years I was acting, and not really in as much pain as I said I was. Then I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and suddenly, everything made so much sense. It helps if there is a diagnosis, it makes it all seem more real. There were times when I wondered myself if I was a hypochondriac, and it was all in my head. It was nice to know I wasn't nuts, and now my husband supports me 100%. You might see if his doctor can refer him to a specialist. I was diagnosed by a Rheumatologist.

I know he's in pain.I just feel like he makes it out to be worse than it is. He had a fatty mass removed from his back last November and now he suffers from chronic pain. There's no diagnosis yet. He's seen every kind of dr. there is for backs. We now think he has nerve damage and he has been getting steroid injections in his spine from a pain management specialist. Thanks for your support.
