Where do your kids sit when you go to the store???
A Jan. baby!!!

They sit in both places...........even if they are in the front part, they don't get buckled in...they've never tried to climb out on me. My 2 year old refuses to sit down in the back though, he stands the whole time. Dangerous, yes, but I'm careful and he can't sit in the front...his 1 yr old brother occupies that spot.

Where ever I decide to put them. On one hand I can understand her saying that because there are stupid parents that dont watch their children and they stand up and fall on their heads but if they want kids up front then they need to make sure all their buckles work. I would ignore her and put your child wherever works best for you.
We've had that incident with the non-working belts in carts when my son was younger. It's frustrating, because if you put them in the basket part of the cart, you don't have room to shop. We never really had a problem though, because our son never did try to climb out of the seat.
Maybe if you get him involved in the shopping, by showing him the things you're putting in the cart, or talking to him about things you pass, he'll be more likely to sit still for you.
I'm sorry I don't have better advice to offer. 8)
usually we get the carts that have the 2 big seats where the kids can sit across from eachother but when they dont have them my youngest one sits up front and my 3 yr old sits either in the back or he walks with me..i have no problem with putting either one of my kids in the back because i know im going to be watching them...it makes me so mad though when people put their kids in the back of the cart and dont watch them...i was at walmart the other day and there were 2 women there with one of their daughters...she looked younger than my youngest son he is 18 months, well she was in the back of the cart trying to climb over the side of it while the women were not paying any attention to her, they were looking at makeup or something..i really wanted to say somethign but i didnt..i felt so sick after that just thinking of that little girl falling out of the cart..

I don't give a damn what policy they have. It is MY child and if she makes my trip more pleasant in the back, so be it. She will not ride in the front. Period. She screams and squirms herself until we are all miserable. So you betcha she gets in the back. I have never been talked to about it! Hell around Halloween her brother (7) was sick and in the back bc he didn't want to walk. So I had her propped up on the handle with her feet in the front seat and leaning her back against my chest. Yes, I picked her up when I moved to get something, but as we walked, she was resting right there.
My two boys are three and one years old and they both sit in the front part. I would have no problem with my three year old sitting in the basket if he would actually sit but eh doesn't, he constantly stands up and will even do it when I am pushing the basket. Because of Wal-Mart's stupid laziness in not keeping the belts fixed I can't leave my one year old in the front by himself while I try and catch my three year old before he hits the floor head first. Sooo, I either never go to the store without another adult or I let my eight year old dd push the baby in one basket while I push my three year old in another. It is a damn pain in the ass.
I have 3 LO's, 5 & 3 y/o and a 11m/o. My 11 m/o sits in the front part, we have one of those cart covers that snaps on and then also has a buckle for her. Definately solves the broken buckle on the cart problem! Usually my 3 y/o wants to be inside the basket and my oldest loves to lay on the bottom part. I pretty much make sure DH is with me when we go for major grocery shopping b/c there definately isn't any room in the cart after the kids get in. If I know I will be going by myself (with the kids) I will go to the grocery store with child care for 3 and up. Love it!!!!

I have the same problem with my 15 month old daughter. She hates to sit in the seat and the buckels provided are usually broken or not there at all. She constantly tries to climb out and I find myself forcing her to sit. I feel like everyone is looking at me as she is crying trying to grab onto me. I just can't hold her and shop too so I have put her in the basket but she typically stands up in it and that's a problem too. I have let her push the cart (with me behind her) and that works well but if I stop too long.... she's running down the isle. I hate shopping sometimes. A quick visit can feel like forever. I do get days where she is perfectly content in the seat but it's rare. I hope she likes the seat sometime soon - good luck.
